SyncMed is not a healthcare provider. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. We are not regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The Platform facilitates peer-to-peer medical education only.
By accessing or using SyncMed, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with any changes, you may close your account.
SyncMed's core tutorials are free for students. We may introduce optional premium features or paid tiers in the future, but your access to free tutorials will not be removed or downgraded. If we make material changes to what is included in the free tier, we will give you at least 30 days' notice.
To use SyncMed, you must meet one of the following criteria:
Medical students: You must be currently enrolled at a recognised UK medical school or physician associate programme.
Doctors: You must hold current GMC registration and be practising in the United Kingdom. Doctor accounts require verification by the SyncMed team before teaching access is granted.
Age requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to register for a SyncMed account.
By registering, you confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements above and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.
Registration: You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. You agree to update your information promptly if it changes.
Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@syncmed.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
One account per person: Each user may hold only one account. Creating multiple accounts may result in suspension or termination of all accounts.
Account verification (doctors): Doctor accounts undergo verification, which includes checking your GMC registration status. Teaching access is not granted until verification is complete. SyncMed reserves the right to reverify GMC registration at any time and to suspend accounts where registration has lapsed or been revoked.
You agree to use SyncMed only for its intended purpose: medical education. You must not:
Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, at our sole discretion.
Platform content: The SyncMed name, logo, website design, code, database structure, and all original written content are the intellectual property of SyncMed or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any Platform content without our prior written consent.
Tutorial content: Doctors retain ownership of the teaching materials, slides, notes, and educational content they create and share on SyncMed. By uploading or delivering content through SyncMed (including tutorial materials, slides, recordings, and written resources), doctors grant SyncMed a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, store, and display that content solely for the purpose of operating, improving, and promoting the SyncMed platform.
This licence continues for as long as the content remains on the platform. If you delete your account, we will remove your content within 30 days, and this licence will terminate, except where content has been incorporated into aggregated or anonymised materials (such as platform statistics or promotional materials that do not identify you individually).
You retain all ownership of your original content and may use it elsewhere without restriction.
Student content: By submitting feedback, reviews, ratings, or suggestions through SyncMed, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, and display that content for the purpose of operating, improving, and promoting the platform. You retain ownership of your feedback but acknowledge that we are not obliged to act on it or compensate you for its use.
Restrictions: You may not record, screen-capture, redistribute, or commercially exploit any tutorial or Platform content without the express written permission of the content creator and SyncMed.
SyncMed reserves the right to review, edit, restrict, or remove any content uploaded, shared, or delivered through the platform at its sole discretion and without prior notice, where we reasonably believe such content:
We are not obligated to monitor all content but may do so at our discretion. Where content is removed, we will notify the relevant user unless doing so would compromise an ongoing investigation, legal proceeding, or safeguarding concern.
GMC registration: You must maintain active GMC registration throughout your use of SyncMed as a doctor. If your GMC registration is suspended, revoked, or lapses, you must notify us immediately and your teaching access will be suspended.
Teaching standards: You agree to deliver tutorials that are evidence-based, curriculum-aligned, and appropriate for the stated year group and topic. You must not promote products, services, or personal commercial interests during tutorials.
Portfolio evidence: SyncMed provides tutorial attendance records that doctors may use as teaching portfolio evidence for training applications, appraisals, and revalidation. SyncMed does not guarantee that any third party (including the GMC, Royal Colleges, Health Education England, or NHS employers) will accept SyncMed records as valid evidence. It is your responsibility to verify what evidence is accepted by your specific training programme or employer.
Safeguarding: Doctors agree to conduct themselves professionally at all times and to report any safeguarding concerns to SyncMed immediately at support@syncmed.co.uk.
As a doctor using SyncMed, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SyncMed Limited, its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
This indemnity survives termination of your account and applies regardless of whether SyncMed has reviewed or approved the relevant content.
Educational use only: Tutorial content is for your personal learning only. You may not redistribute, sell, or commercially exploit any tutorial content.
No recording: You must not record tutorials (audio, video, or screen capture) without the express permission of the teaching doctor.
Attendance: If you register for a tutorial, please attend or cancel in advance. Repeated no-shows may result in temporary restrictions on your ability to register for tutorials.
Not medical advice: Tutorial content does not constitute medical advice. See the Disclaimer page for full details.
To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales:
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
SyncMed does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
SyncMed, its founders, directors, employees, and tutors accept no liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or in connection with:
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.
Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or in connection with your use of the Platform shall not exceed £100.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SyncMed, its founders, directors, employees, agents, and tutors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or in connection with:
This indemnification obligation survives the termination of your account.
By you: You may request account deletion at any time by emailing support@syncmed.co.uk with the subject line “Account Deletion Request”. We will process your request within 30 days. Upon deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy retention schedule.
By SyncMed: We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, with or without notice, if:
Effect of termination: Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as described in our Privacy Policy (for example, tutorial attendance records for doctor portfolio evidence are retained for 6 years). Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law.
The Platform may contain links to external websites, resources, or services that are not owned or controlled by SyncMed (such as links to GMC registration checker, NHS resources, or medical education websites).
SyncMed is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, or practices of any third-party sites or services. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.
Tutorials are delivered via Microsoft Teams. Your use of Microsoft Teams is subject to Microsoft's own terms of service and privacy policy. SyncMed is not responsible for Microsoft Teams' availability, functionality, or data handling beyond what we control.
Accessing third-party links or services is at your own risk. We recommend reviewing the terms and privacy policies of any third-party service before using it.
SyncMed shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
In such circumstances, our obligations are suspended for the duration of the event. If the event continues for more than 60 consecutive days, either party may terminate these Terms by giving written notice.
Informal resolution first: If you have a dispute with SyncMed, please contact us first at support@syncmed.co.uk. We will try to resolve the matter informally within 30 days.
Mediation: If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, either party may propose mediation through a mediator agreed upon by both parties, or through the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR). The costs of mediation will be shared equally.
Courts: If mediation is unsuccessful or either party declines mediation, the dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent interim relief from the courts at any time.
For non-legal complaints about the platform or service quality, see our Complaints Procedure.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Platform.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if it cannot be modified, it shall be severed. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and SyncMed regarding your use of the Platform. They supersede any prior agreements, communications, or understandings, whether oral or written.
Waiver: Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver is only effective if it is in writing and signed by us.
Assignment: SyncMed may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms to a third party (for example, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets). You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations without our prior written consent.
No third-party rights: These Terms do not confer any rights on any person or party other than you and SyncMed. Nothing in these Terms is intended to create rights enforceable by third parties under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
Headings: Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect the interpretation of these Terms.
